Beertown 2018: Malton’s premier beer festival
Today, we’re welcoming Bad Seed Brewery’s Chris Waplington to the Brewtown blog to talk to us about the Beertown festival, running from May 17th – 19th in the Yorkshire food capital of Malton.
Beertown is Malton’s Craft Beer Celebration, turning the town into a ‘Theatre of Beer’ – with over 60 of the most exciting beers from the best breweries in the UK and beyond. This year Beertown will take place Thursday 17th May – Saturday 19th May at the Milton Rooms in the centre of Malton. Together with Brass Castle, we have a great opportunity to let our hair down and showcase some great beers from all over the world.
Session times for BEERTOWN 2018 are:
Thursday 17th May 17.00-23.00
Friday 18th May 12.00-23.00
Saturday 19th May 12.00-23.00
Malton is a beer town -we have two successful breweries, Brass Castle and Bad Seed, making traditional and new wave beers. Now in its fifth year, Beertown brings them together to celebrate Malton’s rich brewing history and exciting future. Beertown raises money for Ryedale Special Families a fantastic local charity that supports families with children and young adults with special needs. Children are welcome before 8 pm with a guardian, soft drinks are available from food vendors. Dogs are welcome too but must be kept on a lead. A bowl of water is available for them, just ask. No one goes thirsty at Beertown.
Venue. We base the festival in the Milton Rooms right in the heart of Malton and this great building offers the ideal space to bring the festival to the town. Malton looks to be Yorkshire’s food capital and we are really proud to be part of a town that is so supportive to both breweries and other artisan food producers.
Food. A key part of Beertown and this year we have brought together four great local food traders, Street Cleaver, Tacoporium, Malton Relish and Little Somboon Kitchen. There is something to please everyone.
Live music. To makes sure Beertown goes with a swing we have live music on the Friday and Saturday sessions. We’re really pleased that one of our favourite acts from last year, The Black Marcs will be travelling down from Newcastle to play a set on Saturday afternoon. The Chu Man Shu will be headlining on Friday with Kaminari UK, Malarky and Inntransit playing from Saturday afternoon into the night.
Beer. Beertown is the place to be to find the best range of Bad Seed and Brass Castle beers. Both breweries will be showcasing their latest specials and core range favourites. As well as our own beers, we look to display the best beers from across the UK. We’ll have beers from Yorkshire breweries BrewYork, Northern Monk, North Brew Co, Magic Rock and from further afield. For Beertown we are also on an international quest for incredible beer. Our beer list showcases an eclectic range of beers in both cask and keg from the best breweries across the UK and beyond.
