The Minster FM Local Hero Awards 2018 were held at York Racecourse on Friday 23rd February, where we were proud sponsors of the Bravery Award. Naomi Savage was the deserving recipient this year and our own Matthew Moore was on hand to present the award on the night.

We were delighted to join our branding company, 'United by Design' down in London recently for a DBA design effectiveness award ceremony. It was a real thrill to rub shoulders with the who’s who of the UK design scene and pick of one of only 16 gold level awards made this year for their fantastic work on our branding. Our trip to London for the awards conveniently coincided with our debut appearance at 'Craft Beer Rising', one of the UK’s premier craft beer festivals. All beers, especially Imperial Tonkoko went down a real storm with punters and brewers alike. It was particularly pleasing swapping samples of our beer for Goose Islands Bourbon Country Stout (a personal favourite of Wayne and I)!!!

As long time fan boys of Magic Rock we took incredible pleasure out of recently brewing with Magic Rock and launching our collab, a Sour IPA named ‘Vulgar Display of Sour’ (yes a Pantera reference) on Wed 1st March. It was a wet, cold, blizzard ridden night yet we still saw one of the busiest Wednesday nights we’ve seen such us the draw of working with someone of the calibre of Magic Rock. Thankfully the beer turned out to be alright too, certainly drinking well below it’s 8% abv!

Focus now is all on our upcoming expansion and 2nd bday party. We will shortly be sharing more news on how to get involved with the expansion and we are upping the ante for this years birthday celebrations (13th/14th April) as we are joined by the likes of Fierce Beer, Mad Hatter, Electric Bear, People Like Us and of course Magic Rock Brewing to bring you a mini beer festival in our new (still in development) food hall. More news on this coming soon.

In terms of upcoming beer releases we have over nearly 15 new beers coming before, or at our 2nd bday party so too many to tell you all about. The highlights would however have to be 'Empress Tonkoko', the new 10.6% addition to the ‘Tonkoko' series, 'Whiskey Barrel Aged Kodiak' (our Imperial Stout brewed with Tapped), A yet to be named Botanical Pale Ale (a collab with new local distillery 'Cooper King'), 'Hey Mango!’ a Milkshake IPA and last but certainly not least 'Juice Forsyth' a New England Style Session IPA.
